In October 2024, we released our plan for creating a collectively-owned Bandcamp successor.
After a year of building together, the platform is ready.
Subvert's platform, owned and governed by all of its co-op members, opens November 4, rolling out to members first in three phases. Here are the onboarding phases.
Phase 1: Members First
Tuesday, November 4
- "Day One" Members gain access (members #1-828)
- Platform is member-only during initial stage
- Co-op Members explore and test the platform with a select group of artist pages
Soon After: All Members (#829+) gain access
Phase 2: All Artists Create Pages
November 2025
- All artist-members can create their own Artist pages and upload releases
- Platform remains member-only at this time
Phase 3: Open Access
December 2025
- The platform opens to everyone
- Anyone can discover and purchase music on Subvert
What to Expect
This is just the beginning. In this private, members-only stage, we're looking for your feedback. Some features and pages aren't fully finished yet. Expect to see things continue to change as we implement updates.
What's most important at this stage isn't perfection, it's getting this platform in your hands. We're asking you to test all features, tell us what works and what doesn't. And buy some music too :)
What's Next?
If you're a Day One member (#1-828): Watch your inbox on Tuesday, November 4 for your access invitation.
If your member number is after #828: You'll receive your invitation shortly after we test with Day Ones. Keep an eye on your email. We're hoping this process is quick, barring any critical issues to address.
If you're an Artist-Member: Get ready for Phase 2 in November when you can create your Artist page and upload your releases.
