Community Standards Policy
Last Updated: April 6, 2026 — Version 1.0
This Community Standards Policy (“Policy”) governs conduct and content on the Subvert platform and within the Subvert community. It applies to all users of the Service including Artist Members, Label Members, Supporter Members, Worker Members, non-member account holders, and guest purchasers.
This Policy is incorporated by reference into the Subvert Terms of Use, available at subvert.fm/terms-of-use. For Cooperative members, this Policy is additionally subject to the Form of Member Agreement and the Subvert Cooperative Bylaws. It should be read alongside the Subvert AI Policy, available at subvert.fm/ai-policy.
Violations of this Policy may be reported through the in-platform reporting tool or by emailing info@subvert.fm.
1. Prohibited Content & Hate Speech
Subvert is a democratic organization that prioritizes the dignity of labor, mutual respect, and cooperation. We do not host content that promotes dehumanization or bigotry. The following are strictly prohibited on the platform:
Hate Speech & Supremacy. Any content that promotes, facilitates, or encourages ideologies founded on the inherent superiority or inferiority of a group. This includes but is not limited to white supremacy and Nazism (including recognized hate symbols and dog-whistles), and anti-gay and anti-trans bigotry including content that promotes violence, dehumanization, or the denial of existence for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Harassment. No doxxing, stalking, or credible threats of violence against other members, users, or Subvert Worker Members.
2. Authorship & Identity
Integrity is the foundation of our cooperative. We have a zero-tolerance policy for deception regarding who you are or what you made.
Misrepresentation. Misrepresenting your identity or the authorship of your work is strictly prohibited.
Co-op Violation. Any attempt to claim credit for work you did not create, or to impersonate another artist - including via unauthorized AI voice cloning - is a direct violation of the Form of Member Agreement and may result in expulsion from the Cooperative. AI-related violations are additionally governed by the Subvert AI Policy.
3. Moderation Scope
While Subvert respects the privacy and external lives of its members, the Cooperative reserves the right to protect its collective integrity.
Our authority is generally limited to conduct and content on the Subvert platform. Worker Members are not tasked with proactively monitoring members’ external behavior. However, Subvert reserves the right to take action regarding off-platform conduct where that conduct creates a direct, material risk to the Cooperative’s mission, legal standing, or the safety of its members. Examples of off-platform conduct that may warrant action include:
• Credible threats of violence made against members on other platforms.
• Public conduct that causes material reputational harm to the Cooperative.
• Conduct that would constitute a violation of the Form of Member Agreement regardless of where it occurs.
4. Cooperative Enforcement & Governance
Except for removals necessitated by legal requirements - such as DMCA takedown notices governed by the Terms of Use, Section 10 - final disciplinary power rests with the Cooperative.
Notice and Education. The Cooperative Moderation Panel will typically issue a notice of concern before escalating an issue, allowing members to rectify behavior in the spirit of cooperative growth.
No Unilateral Removal. No member will be permanently removed from the platform or the Cooperative through the unilateral decision of a single administrator.
Democratic Review. Final decisions to remove content or terminate membership require a review by the Cooperative Moderation Panel, composed of a representative cross-section of Subvert’s membership classes — Worker Members, Artist Members, Label Members, and Supporter Members. The Panel is defined and governed in accordance with the Subvert AI Policy, Section 1.7.
Right to Appeal. Members flagged for violations have the right to be heard by the Panel before a final determination is made. The appeals process is described in the Terms of Use, Section 11.6. Non-member account holders may submit informal requests but do not have a formal right of appeal.
5. Solidarity & Protection of Labor
Subvert is founded on a basis of respect for labor and solidarity. Our Worker Members are cooperative owners, not anonymous corporate customer service representatives.
Upholding Worker Dignity. Abusive communication, threats, or harassment directed at Subvert Worker Members or moderators is a violation of this Policy.
Respectful Interaction. Disagreement is welcome. We expect members to engage with Worker Members and fellow Cooperative members with respect, grace, and dignity.
